Post-Jam Updates


Soon the voting period for the #GameDevMonth will be over. I was using that time to fix the most obvious bugs (published these fixes already) and to implement some new ideas, thanks to the inspiring feedback of the Jam Community. These new parts aren't published yet, will wait with that until the end of the Jam.

In the last section you will find an outlook of what is coming soon. There is more on my list, have to take this step by step. Game is still an experiment, and I have the motivation to drive this further.

Bugfixes

◈ Fixed the broken winning condition
◈ Added a warning for "the Horde"
◈ Card deck should work more stable now (still some bugs, needs to be refactored completely)
◈ The end of battle / zombie card updates kind of work stable now (still some bugs)
◈ Drinking at wells / lakes is fixed
◈ The missing font is fixed
◈ A cooking bug is fixed
◈ Hiding Inventory and Crafting options when fight begins
◈ Correctly update inventory during fight

New Features

The following changes make playing 9 Dayz A LOT more challenging - every encounter will be a threat now, and no overflowing inventory any more. I have some more ideas of how to raise the challenge bar even further.

◈ All items except weapons will be consumed when used in a battle
◈ Weapons now have durability, which is reduced in battles
◈ Low energy will reduce the amount of Action Points per turn in battles (Rest or take an energy pill to regain energy)
◈ Time passes by accurately (including fast forward for longer periods)
◈ Actions consume specific amount of energy
◈ The effect of resting depends on the building
◈ Player can sleep now in certain buildings
◈ The amount of Health restored depends on resting conditions
◈ New signposts reveal the name of target locations
◈ More card state feedback for locked and looted buildings and for zombies nearby

Coming Soon

◈ Infestation - some buildings are infested by rats, they will attack wen players don't scout
◈ Rats - new enemy that will steal food items from player during battle, to heal themselfs
◈ Killed rats can be prepared and roasted at a fireplace
◈ Weapons durability can be fixed with tape
◈ Human Corpses can be found in buildings, spawn and allow Searching
