In this game you play as the operator of a space mining station. This station works largely autonomously, but can receive commands from you via the AstrOS operating system. Sell the mined raw materials on markets in space and on earth. Research unknown samples found during mining operations to unlock new resources and build your station into a real player in the space mining business.

The game is developed and tested in Firefox only. If you have issues with Chrome&Co. I recommend switching to this browser.

Tutorial

I wrote an extensive in-game tutorial. It is opening after the game has started. Hope it helps to overcome the learning curve these kinds of managment games tend to have.

Take it slow

AstrOS is not a fast-paced game - it is indeed the complete opposite. Certain people will have a calming or mesmerizing experience playing it - others will be just bored to death... We are all different - and that's a great thing.

During my first complete test play I focussed on fulfilling the first Winning Condition - constructing 4 special parts in my Factory. Leaving the potential exploit aside (every part was intended to be built only once, but for now you can build each part as often as you like), I was able to build one of each part in ~15 months in-game time. It took me approx. 2 hours to achive that.

Outlook

One week wasn't enough time for me to implement all my ideas (I have a full-time job, so most of the days I could join the Jam only in the evenings).

The special parts were ment to be transported and then installed at your mining station - each part improving the stations properties in certain aspects.

The most expensive 3D printing module for example would have allowed you to print or repair simple station parts (Solar panels, specialized storage containers, extension points etc.) right in place - using the stations own mining resources as raw materials - and with those parts, expanding your stations capabilities even further.

Another interesting phenomen I haven't had the time to implement is space weather.

Yes, that's actually a real thing, there is even a Space Weaether Prediction Center, raising alarams when e.g. Solar Radiation Storms are threatening Earth orbit satellite-based infrastructure.

As I've already created the game assest for all these ideas, maybe I will add such features later to the game - making it more complete and the experience more wholistic.
